This autumn (September – November 2016) Dr. Abdolbaset Ghorbani (Department of Systematic Biology, Uppsala University) has been studying the history of the fourth volume of the Rauwolff Herbarium, and the plants preserved in it. The plants were mainly collected in the Lebanon, Syria and Iraq in the years 1573 – 1575. This herbarium forms part of the collections kept in Naturalis in Leiden. Leonhard Rauwolff described his travels in a book he published in 1582, which Dr. Ghorbani also includes in his study. He presents the results of his studies in the Naturalis Herbarium, on November 22nd, 16.00 hrs.
